Following the development of her approach in the first iteration of “A Pattern Language” in Beirut, Grace Aaraj leads this multidisciplinary workshop to analyze the city of Amman, targeting the issue of pedestrianism. The participatory outcome of the workshop is a documented guide to better approach our city and – later on – affect it.

About Grace Aaraj

Grace Aaraj is a recipient of the Fulbright and the Japan JASSO scholarships. She received her Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Oregon with a focus on sustainable urbanism and community engagement. She is an accredited LEED AP BD+C. After working in Portland and Honolulu, she returned to Beirut where she co-founded ArchiBuild, a design-build practice with a portfolio of diverse projects and interventions. Her designs and publications have been exhibited and published in Haiti, Egypt, Japan, USA and Europe. Her research interests focus on architectural education and the application of public interest design. She teaches architecture at the Lebanese American University and Beirut Arab University.

بعد وضع نهجها في التّكرار الأوّل من “لغة نمط” في بيروت، تقود غريس الأعرج هذه الورشة متعدّدة التّخصصات لتحليل مدينة عمّان واستهداف قضيّة المشي. النّتيجة التّشاركيّة لحلقة العمل هي دليل موثّق لتحسين نهج مدينتنا، وفي وقت لاحق – التّأثيرعليها.

عن غريس الأعرج

غريس الأعرج مستفيدة من منح فولبرايت وجاسو اليابانيّة. حصلت على درجة الماجستير في هندسة العمارة من جامعة أوريغون مع التّركيز على التّحضّر المستدام والمشاركة المجتمعيّة. وهي حاصلة على شهادة الرّيادة في تصميمات الطّاقة والبيئة LEED AP BD+C. بعد أن عملت في بورتلاند وهونولولو، عادت إلى بيروت حيث شاركت في تأسيس ArchiBuild، وهو مكتب تصميم مباني يتولّى ملّفات مشاريع وتداخلات متنوّعة. وقد عرضت تصاميمها ومنشوراتها في هايتي ومصر واليابان والولايات المتّحدة وأوروبا. وتركّز إهتماماتها البحثيّة على التّعليم المعماري وتطبيق تصميم المصلحة العامة. وهي تدرّس الهندسة المعماريّة في الجامعة اللبنانيّة الأميركيّة وجامعة بيروت العربيّة.
