أمل مراهقة مشاكسة تترعرع في مصر ما بعد الثورة في وقت تشهد كل منهما تغيرات هائلة.

وسط حالة من الاضطراب السياسي المستمر، تبحث أمل عن مكانتها وهويتها وحياتها الشخصية في مجتمع ذكوري. تنطلق أمل في رحلة مثيرة تدوم ست سنوات انتقالا من الطفولة الى المراهقة. في طريقها، تدرك الخيارات المحدودة المتاحة أمامها كشابة تسعى لتحقيق طموحاتها وآمالها السياسية والشخصية.

فاز الفيلم بجائزة التانيت الذهبية للأفلام الوثائقية في مهرجان قرطاج السينمائي. وترشح لجائزة منظمة العفو الدولية في مهرجان سالونيك للأفلام الوثائقية وجائزة الفيلم الوثائقي في مهرجان مدينة لوكسمبورغ السينمائي وأفضل فيلم وثائقي في مهرجان أمستردام الدولي للأفلام الوثائقية وجائزة شاشة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ لأفضل فيلم وثائقي.

Amal is a feisty teenager growing up in post-revolution Egypt, while they’re both undergoing a tremendous change.

Within a constant political turmoil, Amal searches for her place, identity and sexuality in a patriarchal society. Amal, whose name literally translates to “hope”, is embarking on a 6-year compelling journey from childhood to adulthood. Along the way, she realizes her limited options as a woman striving to fulfill her personal and political dreams and ambitions.

The film has won Tanit D’or for documentaries at Carthage Film Festival. It was nominated for the Amnesty International Award at Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, Documentary Award at Luxembourg City Film Festival, Best Feature Documentary at Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival and Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Feature Documentary.
