On October 13, The Mexican – Jordanian Friendship Concert, organized in cooperation with the Mexican Embassy brings on stage the internationally renowned Mexican conductor Maestro José Areán, at the Al Hussein Cultural Centre, at 7.30 PM. José Areán’s career has covered a vast amount of musical and cultural ground. Equally comfortable conducting opera, symphonic and chamber music, he has devoted much time as well to outreach and education in his homeland, Mexico, championing young talents, contemporary music and open-air musical experiences for a wide audience. Since 2005, he has been the Associate Conductor to the Mineria Symphony Orchestra, Mexico’s finest Festival Orchestra. The range of music they have performed under Areán ranges from a Mahler cycle (2010-11), including Deryck Cooke’s version of the 10th Symphony and rarely performed works such as Dasklagende Lied, to first performances of works commissioned by the orchestra, to pop concerts in ten-thousand-seater venues.
The program includes three compositions of the great Mexican tradition and one piece for trumpet solo by Mohammad Sidiq, offering a unique dialogue in music between Mexico and Jordan through: Chacona in e minor by Carlos Chavez/Dietrich Buxtehude, Piano Concerto no. 2 by Liszt (piano – Ghadeer Abeido), Trumpet Poem by Mohammad Siddiq (Trumpet – Hind Sabanegh), Danzon no. 2 by Arturo Marquez and Huapango by Jose Pablo Moncayo.
You can preorder your tickets at info@jorchestra.com or by calling 06 5100250 Ext. 4166.
Tickets for 15 JOD are available on www.sajilni.com, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University (Abdel Raheem Al Waked Street, Building 45, Shemeisani) and at The National Music Conservatory.
All the concerts’ proceeds will go to support the Jordanian National Orchestra, a national cultural initiative born with the aim to develop and reinforce the music culture in Jordan with a series of concerts and projects with leading local and international musicians, conductors and composers.
