800 years ago, in 1219, St. Francis of Assisi came to the Holy Land as a pilgrim of peace and today the Franciscan friars remember this anniversary with various initiatives throughout the Middle East and the Levant.

In Jordan, the annual concert of the Terra Sancta Organ Festival, organized by the Custody of the Holy Land, will present a special event on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the Terra Sancta Cultural Center (Jabal Al-Weibdeh, Ahmad Shawki St. Building No. 26) with free admission.

The event is entitled “ST. FRANCIS IN MUSIC & IMAGES”: this is a video and organ concert that will be performed on the basis of the Italian silent film “Frate Sole” (Brother Sun) dated 1918, which tells the story of St. Francis. As at the beginning of cinematography, the film will have a musical accompaniment, in this case with the organ. The musical accompaniment will be performed by Mario Mariani (http://www.mariomariani.com), an Italian avant-garde composer, pianist, organist and performer strongly recognizable for his unconventional sounds. His style goes from contemporary music to theatrical performances, film scoring (Cannes, Venice, New York and Berlin Film Festivals) and television.
