يحلم “جيرو” بتصميم طائرات جميلة والتحليق فيها، حيث يستوحي إلهامه من مصمم الطيران الإيطالي الشهير “كبروني”. بحكم قصر نظره منذ سن مبكرة وعدم قدرته على أن يصبح طياراً، ينضم “جيرو” إلى شركة هندسية يابانية كبرى في 1927 ويصبح واحداً من مصممي الطائرات الأكثر ابتكاراً وبراعة في العالم. يلتقي “ناهوكو” ويقع في غرامها بينما تنمو صداقته مع زميله “هونجو” ويحافظ عليها ويقدرها. يروي الفيلم جزءاً كبيراً من حياة “جيرو هوريكوشي” – الرجل الذي صمّم الطائرات المقاتلة اليابانية خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية – ويستعرض أحداثاً تاريخية رئيسية من بينها زلزال كانتو الكبير في 1923 وفترة الكساد الكبير وتفشي وباء السّل ودخول اليابان في الحرب. يُعرب الكاتب والمخرج هاياو ميازاكي عن تقديره للمهندس “هوريكوشي” في هذه القصة الملحمية من الحب والمثابرة وتحديات العيش واتخاذ القرارات في عالم مضطرب.ترشح الفيلم لجائزة الأوسكار لأفضل فيلم تحريكي للعام وترشح لجائزة غولدن غلوب لأفضل فيلم بلغة أجنبية. وقد فاز بالعديد من الجوائز منها: جائزة الأكاديمية اليابانية لأفضل فيلم تحريكي وأفضل موسيقى وجائزة آني للإنجاز المتميز في كتابة منتج تحريكي وجائزة جمعية بوسطن للنقاد السينمائيين لأفضل فيلم تحريكي وجائزة جمعية نقاد أوهايو السينمائيين لأفضل فيلم أجنبي وجائزة جولدن تريليرز لأفضل مقطع تلفزيوني أجنبي وجائزة هارتلاند للأفلام لأكثر صورة مؤثرة وجائزة دائرة نقاد نيويورك السينمائيين لأفضل فيلم تحريكي وجوائز Anime طوكيو وجائزة دائرة نقاد سينما المرأة لأفضل فيلم عائلي وغيرها من الجوائز

Jiro dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted from a young age and unable to be a pilot, Jiro joins a major Japanese engineering company in 1927 and becomes one of the world’s most innovative and accomplished airplane designers. He meets and falls in love with Nahoko, and grows and cherishes his friendship with his colleague Honjo.
The film chronicles much of Jiro Horikoshi’s life – the man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II – depicting key historical events including the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic and Japan’s plunge into war. Writer and director Hayao Miyazaki pays tribute to engineer Horikoshi in this epic tale of love, perseverance and the challenges of living and making choices in a turbulent world.
The film was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year and was nominated for the Golden Globes Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It has won many awards including: the Japanese Academy Award for Best Animation Film and Best Music, the Annie Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Writing an Animated Feature Production, the Boston Society of Film Critics’ Awards for Best Animated Film, the Central Ohio Film Critics Association for Best Foreign Language Film, the Golden Trailers Award for Best Foreign TV Spot, the Heartland Film Award for Truly Moving Picture, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards for Best Animated film, the Tokyo Anime Awards and the Women Film Critics Circle Awards for Best Family Film and others awards

يفوت “تاكاو”، طالب في المرحلة الثانوية يحلم بأن يصبح صانع أحذية، يوما من المدرسة ليرسم تصميمات للأحذية في حديقة ماطرة. لم يكن يعلم عندها كم ستتغير حياته حين يقابل الفتاة الغامضة “يوكينو”، التي تكبره سناً ولكنها ليست أكثر حكمة منه، حيث تبدو حياتها بلا هدف. يبدأ الاثنان علاقة غير عادية عبر التقائهما في نفس الحديقة في الأيام الماطرة. لكن موسم المطر قارب على الانتهاء تاركاً وراءه العديد من الأمور التي لم يتشاركانها بعد… حاز الفيلم جائزة “ساتوشي كون” وجائزة الجمهور في مهرجان فنتازيا الدولي للأفلام في عام 2013 وجائزة أفضل فيلم تحريكي وجائزة “آي تيونز” في مهرجان شتوتغارت للأفلام التحريكية عام 2014.

When Takao, a high school student dreaming of becoming a shoemaker, skips school one day in favor of sketching shoes in a rainy garden, he has no idea how much his life will change when he encounters the mysterious Yukino. Older, but perhaps not much wiser, she seems adrift in the world.
The two strike up an unusual relationship through chance meetings in the same garden on each rainy day. But the rainy season is coming to a close, leaving many things unshared between them…
The film has won Satoshi Kon Prize and Audience Awards at Fantasia International Film Festival 2013 and Best Animation and iTunes Best at Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film 2014
