“يوشيكا”، موظفة في مكتب تبلغ 24 سنة، تجمعها علاقة حب من طرف واحد منذ عشر سنوات مع “ايشيميا” (الملقب “ايتشي” أو “وان”)، وهو طالب في المدرسة الإعدادية. زميلها “توو” يدعوها للخروج معه في موعد ولكن لا يبدو أن علاقتهما ستنجح. تندلع النيران في شقتها جرّاء مشكلة في السخان الكهربائي، ومواجهتها للموت تجعلها مصرة للالتقاء بـ”ايتشي” مرة أخرى. عندها، تعمل على تنظيم اجتماع لزملاء الدراسة الذين لا يتذكرونها على الاطلاق. بين هوسها بشخصية “وان” الخيالية وخجلها من “توو” الموجود في الحقيقة، تجد “يوشيكا” نفسها ممزقة بين الواقع والخيال، وما ترغب وما لا ترغبه حقاً.

Yoshika, a 24-year old office clerk, is in her tenth year of unrequited love for Ichimiya (‘Ichi’, or ‘One’), a fellow student in middle school. Now ‘Two’, a persistent fellow worker, asks her out. As no one has ever done this before, she is pleased, but their relationship does not seem to catch fire. This cannot be said for the futon in her apartment, which bursts into flame from contact with an electric heater. The fire is extinguished, but her brush with death makes her determined to see the Ichi again. She sets to work organizing a reunion of classmates who by large don’t remember her at all. Obsessed with her imaginary ‘One’, and timid with regard to the real ‘Two’, Yoshika struggles to find herself, torn between fantasy and reality, and between what she really wants and what she really doesn’t.

تلتحق “هيكاري توموناغا” بمدرسة “فوكوي تشو” الثانوية حيث تنضم الى نادي الرقص التشجيعي لسبب وحيد: أن تهتف لصبي تعرفه منذ أيام الابتدائي. ولكن مدربة النادي، التي تتسم بالقسوة والعقلانية الشديدة، تعلن أنه يتوجب على أفراد الفريق أن يصبحوا أبطال الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ولا يسمح بأية هفوات أو علاقات غرامية. مع خروج الطالبات الأكبر سنا من النادي، لا يتبقى لـ”هيكاري” سوى رفيقة واحدة لتشجعها على الاستمرار.

هل سيحقق النادي هدفه في الوصول الى بطولة الولايات المتحدة؟ يحكي الفيلم قصة طالبات عاديات وانطلاقهن في رحلة طويلة نحو جعل حلمهن حقيقة.

حصل الفيلم على جائزة “Newcomer of the Year” في حفل جوائز الاكاديمية اليابانية.

Hikari Tomonaga enrolls at Fukui Chuo High School and joins its cheer dance club for the sole reason of cheering on a boy she has known from their junior high days. However, the club’s coach, female teacher Kaoruko Saotome, is a harsh and no-nonsense task master who suddenly declares: “Our aim is to become U.S. champions! No fringes or boyfriends allowed!” As older students quickly quit the club, the presence of Hikari’s teammate, Ayano, encourages her to decide to stick with cheer dance for the time being. Will the club achieve its goal of becoming U.S. champions? These ordinary schoolgirls set off on a long journey toward making their dream a reality.

The film has won the “Newcomer of the Year” at the Awards of the Japanese Academy.

تبحث “هارو”، فتاة في المدرسة الثانوية، عن “ساشيكو” وهي امرأة مذكورة في رسالة من بين ممتلكات والدها الراحل. يبدو أن “ساشيكو” كانت حبيبته السابقة.

تقطن حاليا في العنوان الذي يدل على وجود “ساشيكو” فتاة اسمها “جان”، وهي طالبة جامعية تبدي اهتماما بقضية “هارو” وتبدآن سويا رحلة البحث. عندما تحدد الفتاتان موقع منزل “ساشيكو”، تلتقيان بحفيدها “توكيو” الذي يخبرهما بأن جدته توفيت مؤخراً. في وقت لاحق، يعثر “توكيو” على شريط مسجل في أغراض جدته ليتبين أن “شينبي” و”ساشيكو” كانا يعزفان الموسيقى ويحتوي الشريط على أغنية غنّاها الاثنان. الا أن الشريط شبه متلف فلا يستطيعون سماع الاغنية الى النهاية. يقرر “توكيو” و”هارو” و”جان” اكمال الاغنية بأنفسهم. حفيد وابنة يحاولان مواصلة ما بدأه جدة وأب…

Haru, a high school girl, is looking for Sachiko, a woman mentioned in a letter she found in her late father’s belongings. Sachiko appears to have been his old girlfriend.

Currently living at Sachiko’s address is Jun, a female university student who becomes interested in Haru’s cause, and together they start to search for Sachiko. When the two girls locate Sachiko’s house, they meet her grandson, Tokio, who tells them that his grandmother, Sachiko, passed away just recently.

Later, Tokio finds a reel-to-reel tape in Sachiko’s belongings. Apparently, Shinpei and Sachiko used to play music together, and the tape contains a song sung by the couple. However, the tape is damaged and they cannot hear the song to the end. Tokio, Haru, and Jun decide to complete the song themselves; a grandson and a daughter trying to finish a song that a grandmother and a father left unfinished.

نادرا ما تغادر “مامي” المنزل منذ تركها المدرسة الإعدادية. تحاول الهروب من الواقع عن طريق الانغماس بنسخ رسومات لشخصياتها المفضلة في غرفتها المليئة بالكتب والقصص المصورة. يشعر والدها، “ايسوك”، بالقلق حيالها منذ انفصاله عن والدتها.

ذات يوم، يجد “ايسوك” لابنته “مامي” وظيفة بدوام جزئي في مختبر لألعاب الفيديو وبدورها توافق على ذلك ظنا منها بأنها ستبقى منعزلة عن الاخرين الى أن تلتقي زميلها، “ريوتارو”، الذي يكتشف موهبتها في الرسم.

لدى انخراطها في مجتمع جديد وتعاملها مع أشخاص جدد، تحاول “مامي” الولوج في عالم مختلف، ولكن بعد سنوات من تقليدها لأعمال الاخرين فهي غير قادرة على ابتكار شيء خاص بها.

Mami rarely leaves home since she dropped out from middle school. She has been escaping reality by immersing herself in copying her favorite manga and illustrations in her room full of books and comics. Her father, Eisuke, worries a lot about her ever since he divorced her mother. One day, Eisuke finds Mami a part-time job as a video game tester to find and report bugs in the company’s products. She accepts, thinking she can stay isolated from other people, until her colleague, Ryotaro, finds out her talent for drawing pictures.

By getting involved with new people and society, Mami tries to step out into a new world, but after years of mimicking other people’s works, she is unable to create something of her own…
