Akkasah: Collecting, Archiving, Preserving images

Akkasah is a Center for Photography at New York University Abu Dhabi dedicated to establishing a research-active archive of photography from the Middle East and North Africa.
The center focuses in particular on historical vernacular and documentary photography. This workshop will describe the process of collecting, archiving and preservation at the Center and outline the Center’s broader project.
It will also explore the ways in which we look at and interact with our own family photographs today and what we can do to preserve them.
