Organized by the French Institute in AMMAN, to celebrate the beauty of the verb, this event will resonate across many cities of the Arab world: Abou Dhabi, Alger, Annaba, Bagdad, Beirut, Cairo, Casablanca, Constantine, Djeddah, Doha, F\u00e8s, Khartoum, Manama, Marrakech, Mascate, Mekn\u00e8s, Rabat, Riyad and Tunis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Program:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">6.00 PM \u2013 6.30 PM: Poetry lecture by Walid Al Swairki (in Arabic and French)<br \/>\n6.30 PM \u2013 7.30 PM: \u201cVoices Within\u201d Hisham Bustani will perform his poetry texts alongside audio-visual suggestions by Kazz Torabyeh (in Arabic with French and English subtitles)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Description:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cVoices Within\u201d : Hisham Bustani performs his poetry texts alongside audio-visual suggestions by Kazz Torabyeh<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Hisham Bustani presents a selection of his poetry in addition to hybrid-genre literary texts in this Arabic language multimedia performance accompanied by French and English translations. These texts speak to pressing, contemporary issues \u2013 the consequences of the planet and humanity\u2019s rapid descent into self-destruction \u2013 as well as speaking to the possibilities of poetry as a literary form, its musicality, the elements that form it and its contemplative nature. The texts to be performed by Bustani also explore the possibilities of engagement with other art forms, both auditory and visual, which will be presented by Kazz Torabyeh in a departure from his usual medium of hip-hop\/rap into creating audio-visual media. The performance aims to provide an avenue for creative collaboration with the audience, who will themselves become part of the performance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">French translation: Nada Yafi.<br \/>\nEnglish translation: Thoraya El-Rayyes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Biographies:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Hisham Bustani is an award-winning Jordanian author of five collections of short fiction and poetry. He is acclaimed for his bold style and unique narrative voice, and often experiments with the boundaries of short fiction and prose poetry. Much of his work revolves around issues related to social and political change, particularly the dystopian experience of post-colonial modernity in the Arab world. His work has been described as &#8220;bringing a new wave of surrealism to [Arabic] literary culture, which missed the surrealist revolution of the last century,\u201d and it has been said that he \u201cbelongs to an angry new Arab generation. Indeed, he is at the forefront of this generation \u2013 combining an unbounded modernist literary sensibility with a vision for total change\u2026. His anger extends to encompass everything, including literary conventions.\u201d Hisham\u2019s fiction and poetry have been translated into many languages, appearing in prestigious journals such as &#8220;The Kenyon Review&#8221;, &#8220;The Poetry Review&#8221;, &#8220;Modern Poetry in Translation&#8221;, &#8220;World Literature Today&#8221;, and &#8220;The Los Angeles Review of Books&#8221;. In 2013, the U.K.-based cultural webzine &#8220;The Culture Trip&#8221; listed him as one of Jordan\u2019s top six contemporary writers. His book &#8220;The Perception of Meaning&#8221; (Syracuse University Press, 2015) won the University of &#8220;Arkansas Arabic Translation Award&#8221;. His work has been anthologized in &#8220;The Best Asian Short Stories&#8221;, and he is the recipient of the &#8220;Rockefeller Foundation&#8217;s Bellagio Fellowship for Artists and Writers&#8221; for 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Kazz Torabyeh (born 1992) is a rapper, songwriter, producer, and artist based in Amman-Jordan. He is co-founder of a ground breaking rap group &#8220;Torabyeh&#8221; in 2009, which gained worldwide attention with its album &#8220;Ghorbah&#8221; released in 2011. He released the album &#8220;Athar al-Ghorab&#8221; in 2014, the EP &#8220;Dahab&#8221; in 2015. &#8220;Underrated&#8221; is his latest album, released in 2019. Kazz Torabyeh continues to experiment and push the boundaries of lyrics and sounds, featuring rappers from different career stages from the Middle East. Kazz Torabyeh has collaborated with numerous musicians and artists from the region. He performed in Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Spain, Germany, and France, and has been featured in various international media platforms such as Vice, Al Jazeera, BBC, Radio Monte Carlo and Der Standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Cette ann\u00e9e, la Nuit de la po\u00e9sie propos\u00e9e par l\u2019 \u00ab Institut du Monde Arabe \u00bb \u00e0 Paris depuis 2016 est \u00e0 Amman.
