Electrosteen musicians are an initiative to bring Palestinian traditional music, in its widest sense, into the contemporary international art\/musical scene.<\/p>\n
A team of professional researchers\/musicians\/technicians carried out extensive fieldwork, documenting oral musical traditions amongst the different ethnic and religious communities of historic Palestine.<\/p>\n
An audio material library, collected from existing archives or recorded from professional and non-professional urban, rural and Bedouin musicians, was founded at the Popular Arts Center in Ramallah. An agreement was signed between the \u2018Made in Palestine Project\u2019 and the Popular Arts Center to use this library, which represents an important database, as a means to produce new music.<\/p>\n
This is how, during a two-week long workshop, a team of carefully selected Palestinian young contemporary musicians and DJs were asked to work on the production of original tracks, using this database as a starting point.<\/p>\n

\nIs the crossroad of musical genres in exodus and a cunning homage to the vibrance of Palestinian Dabke dance and performance. Established in 2009, DJ\/Producer Bruno Cruz and Performer\/MC Walaa Sbait brought their homegrown Dabkeh Dance and Mijwiz sounds to match with the beats of hip-hop, dancehall and dembow, announcing with it, the emergence of their unique Arab-A-Dub style. Bridging the sounds and movements that connect the shores of the Caribbean with the hills of the Galilee, sound system culture meets a late night Palestinian street party – and not a beat is amiss.<\/p>\n
