\nIn an illustrated shared exploration, artist, film-maker and cultural activist Andrea Luka Zimmerman will present her moving image, text and installation works made over 15 years in London, Istanbul and the United States. Writer, producer and curator Gareth Evans will explore the sense of place in his work, including festivals (Utopia 2016), Public Art Commissioning (The Re-Enchantment) and Film (Patience After Sebald), among others.

Gareth Evans is a London-based writer, curator, producer and Whitechapel Gallery\u2019s film curator. He conceived and co-curated a year-long exploration of utopian ideas throughout 2016 at Somerset House London to mark 500 years since Thomas More’s original text was first published. He conceived and curated John Berger: Here Is Where We Meet in 2005 and co-curated All Power to the Imagination! 1968 and Its Legacies in 2008. He regularly hosts events at institutions nationally and internationally. He edited the international moving image magazine Vertigo from 2002 \u2013 2009, and now edits Artesian and co-edits for Go Together Press and House Sparrow Press.
\nAndrea Luka Zimmerman grew up on a large council estate in Munich and left school at 16. After moving to London in 1991, she studied at Central St. Martins (where she now teaches) for her PhD. She won the Artangel Open Award for her collaborative feature drama Cycle (2017) with Adrian Jackson. Her feature documentary Estate, a Reverie (2015), tracks the passing of the Haggerston Estate in East London and the utopian promise of social housing it once offered. Her artists\u2019 film Taskafa, Stories of the Street (2013) is about resistance and co-existence told through the lives of the street dogs of Istanbul and is voiced by John Berger. She has made several commissioned short films, including More Utopias Now for Channel 4\u2019s Random Acts (2016).
