DESCRIPTION:Nurses and Midwives as the Key to Universal Health Coverage @ Columbia Global Centers l Amman\nOn Tuesday 7/3/2017 – at 6:30 PM – 8 PM\n*RSVP here: http://bit.ly/2mwvj9y\nJennifer Dohrn\, Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Columbia University Medical Center and Director of the Office of Global Initiative and its WHO Collaborating Center for Advanced Practice Nursing\nDr. Dohrn will look at the World Health Organization’s call for Universal Health Coverage in a framework of human rights and the global community’s response to implement this through expanding human resources for health. With nurses and midwives providing the majority of health care in most countries\, Dr. Dohrn will present innovative examples at the policy\, governance\, education\, clinical care\, and research levels where nursing and midwives are agents of change for Universal Health Coverage.\n—————————\nDr. Jennifer Dohrn is an Assistant Professor of Nursing and the Director of the Office of Global Initiatives and its Pan American Health Organization/ World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Advanced Practice Nursing at Columbia University School of Nursing. She is a co-principal investigator of an ongoing international nursing research grant\, Global Nursing Research Development Initiative.\nAs Director of Midwifery Services\, she initiated the first freestanding maternity center in an inner city in the United States. Dr. Dohrn was the founding Project Director for the International Center for AIDS Program’s Global Nursing Capacity Building project\, which provides technical assistance to build nursing and midwifery capacity in ten Sub-Saharan African countries in response to the HIV pandemic.\nDr. Dohrn has integrated her global experiences in crisis response situations into two decades of teaching in midwifery and global health equity\, with a current focus on refugee health.
