DESCRIPTION:DISCUSSION TO STAY WOKE: how to deal with labels and a questioning self-identity in a world of globalization and migration? \nGOAL OF DISCUSSION: Our goal is to try to find a solution towards the bias and labelling that people from different cultural backgrounds constantly face coming into a new society. The question is how can we integrate people of diverse backgrounds into a new society? Especially with the refugee climate currently\, which in relation will help to rid of bias towards self-identity and acceptance towards their cultural backgrounds. \nWith the number of political and societal problems in our world today\, it is not uncommon to see the shift of cultures and societies with the now prominent access to globalization. This shift has made it clear that one country or nation is not limited only one culture or identity. This is especially true with a number of refugees produced today. \nAccording to UNHCR\, there is an unprecedented 65.6 million people around the world who have been forced from their homes — among them are nearly 22.5 million refugees\, over half of whom are under 18 years old. There are also around 10 million stateless people with 20 people being forcibly displaced every minute. \nSPEAKER\nSahar Makhamreh\nA professor at German Jordanian University with a background of refugees studies and development studies. She teaches the Social Work for Refugees and Migrations program at GJU\, helping social workers on how to manage and integrate refugees into a new environment. \nKotaiba Alabdullah\nHe is the founder of his own charity organization Acting for Change Jordan العمل من أجل التغيير\, conducting different activities in trying to support and provide basic necessities for refugees. He is also a Syrian refugee who migrated to Jordan. \nSo come along and become the solution!\nSee you changemakers there!
