SUMMARY:Amman Poetry Slam (February Edition)
DESCRIPTION:The Amman Poetry Slam is the first ever regular poetry slam in Amman! It is hosted at the mentioned venue on the last Monday of every month! Speakers should attend 15-30 minutes early to sign up. Ticket are 5 JDs each to be paid at the door. Performers and guests are required to purchase tickets. \nWhat is APS? \nThe Amman Poetry Slam gives local talent the opportunity to showcase thier Spoken Word Poetry. It is an open mic event that promotes the creation and performance of poetry and provides a place for voices to be appreciated beyond thier cultural\, social\, political\, or economic boarders. The purpose of the slam is to engage the community and allow for its voices to be heard through the power of voice. \n\nHow does it work? \nOn the evening of the event\, participants who wish to perform put their names down on a sign-up sheet. These participants have 3 minutes to perform their own original work. \nOn the night\, we also showcase local musical talent at the ending of each half\, and have a “feature act” in which a seasoned poet performs a set of poetry. \nAny proceeds or donations we receive on the night are funneled back into the slam to pay for the lighting and sound technician and the costs of sponsoring feature poets to perform. \n\nBring a friend\, or a poem\, and we’ll see you there!
