DESCRIPTION:عَذْراءُ سَمَر\nنور بشوتي\n8 – 31 ‬تمّوز/ ‬يوليو2017\nالمختبر | الإفتتاح: السبت 8‬ تمّوز/ ‬يوليو 2017 6:30 مساء \nينظر “عَذْراءُ سَمَر” في الأيقنة وإنتاج الهوية في سياق عبر وطني. انطالقاً من خبرات المكان والتنقل، يعيد العمل إحياء وتجميع الصور عن طريق الاستحضار ويعيد النظر في قوالب لأجسام من صنع والد الفنانة كان قد كلفه بها متجر للتحف التذكارية في عمان خلال فترة التسعينيات. من خلال إعادة بناء هذه الأجسام وإعادة صوغ سياقاتها مادياً وزمانياً ومكانياً، يقف العمل كنصب تذكاري، بينما يعيد التفكير في المعاني المتأصلة في هذه الأشياء كأيقونات اجتماعية وسياسية وثقافية. \nتم تمويل هذا العمل جزئيا من خلال منحة من الصندوق العربي للثقافة والفنون – آفاق. \nنور بشوتي فنانة متعددة المجالات، تتراوح أعمالها ما بين استخدام الصور والفيديو والقطع الفنية والنصوص، في محاولة لاستكشاف الهوية وعملية إنتاج التاريخ. تقيم وتعمل في تورونتو. حائزة على شهادة الماجستير في الفنون الجميلة من جامعة ماساتشوستس، أمهرست، وكانت فنانة مقيمة في “برنامج فضاء أشغال داخلية” في أشكال ألوان 2015/2014 وفنانة مقيمة ل “23 يوما في البحر”، من خلال مشروع “الفنان المسافر” 2016. عرضت أعمالها في العديد من المعارض، مثل: مركز بيروت للفن، البيت العربي في مدريد وقرطبة، وفي الموزايك رومز في لندن، وفي “أكسس جالري” ونياجارا أرتست سنتر في فانكوفر، كندا. وقد حصلت بشوتي على منحة آفاق للفنون البصرية للعام 2015. \nAḏrāʾ Samar\nNour Bishouty\n8 – 31 JULY 2017\nTHE LAB | OPENING: SATURDAY 8 JULY 2017 6:30PM \n“ʿAḏrāʾ Samar” considers iconography and the production of identity in a transnational context. The work revisits moulds for objects commissioned by a souvenir shop in Amman during the 1990s and made by the artist’s father. By reconstructing and repositioning these objects—in terms of material\, time\, place and context—the work functions as an act of commemoration\, while simultaneously rethinking the meanings inherent in these objects as sociopolitical and cultural icons. Originating from experiences of place and relocation\, the work is a practice of reviving\, reassembling and repositioning images by means of evocation. \nThis work is funded in part by a grant from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC). \nNour Bishouty is a multidisciplinary artist\, living and working in Toronto. Her work\, which takes the forms of image\, video\, object and text\, explores issues pertaining to identity and the production of history. Nour holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and was a fellow at the 2014/15 Home Workspace Program at Ashkal Alwan in Beirut. She was an inaugural resident artist at Twenty-Three Days at Sea\, traveling artist residency. Her work has been exhibited in venues such as Access Gallery in Vancouver\, Beirut Art Centre\, Makan House in Amman\, Helen Day Art Centre in Stowe VT; Casa Arabe in Madrid and Cordoba SP; and the Mosaic Rooms in London.
